The events will be possible again from 1st of July, according to Prime Minister Rutte. It does have some restrictions though: because a huge condition of this, is that the social distancing of 1.5 meters must always be kept. Hygienic regulations must also be in order. The organizations are responsible for that, says the prime minister.

“This does not mean that the event season will start in full from 1 July,” says Rutte. Festivals have to apply for permits, which often takes about six weeks. This would mean that there will probably be no events before mid-August. “But there is finally some room for movement for the events. By keeping a distance, we give space to each other. We are only fully protected when there is a vaccine.” Visitors are asked about any complaints and must keep their distance.

The prime minister indicated that for the first time in months there was a day without an established corona death in The Netherlands. “We are at a point where we have had the first loops and sharpest turns. The danger now is that we think: great, that was the corona time, back to our normal lives.”

Dutch government eases measures from 1 July for festivals and events

According to the Prime Minister, the new rules from the 1st of July should provide clarity for everyone and also give air to entrepreneurs and organizers. Rutte: “The basic rules are the same as much as possible, which makes enforcement easier. By keeping a distance, we give space to each other. That one and a half meters distancing remain crucial, along with other basic rules: staying at home with complaints, working from home as much as possible, and washing your hands.”

General rules for outdoor activities

  • We keep 1.5 meters away from others.
  • Maximum 250 persons (excluding staff).
  • The catering industry always works with a fixed seat.
    • No maximum number of people under the following conditions: fixed seats, a reservation and a health check in advance.
  • In zoos, amusement parks and other outdoor locations with flow of visitors, 1.5 meters away is the rule (locations themselves ensure compliance with this rule). There is no maximum number of people per room.
