Especially for the 20th anniversary of Intents Festival, Frequencerz looked back on the past two decades. They played a unique set on the main for thousands of…
Frequencerz have big news: an album!
It was November 26 when Frequencerz uploaded a picture on their Facebook page with the title ‘Medium Rare’. Alarms immediately went off and people started speculating about it. Would it be a new live-act, a podcast or even an album?
Suddenly they uploaded a preview of the track “Wolfpack” which they made together with Tartaros. That made things a bit clearer for some. The preview used the same ‘Medium Rare’ artwork, so maybe it would be an EP? It has been over a month since they uploaded the picture and now Frequencerz decided to reveal the big news: they are going to release an album!
Yes sir, ‘Medium Rare’ is the title of the very first album of Niels en Pepijn, also known as Frequencerz. They revealed the news by uploading the Facebook video above. It starts with telling about their 10-year anniversary. Can you imagine that is has already been 10 years since they started their career? Over the years they’ve done many amazing things and had the honor to perform at many big events. But there is one thing that has always been at the top of their bucket list. Exactly, an album.
Where does the title come from?
The title of the album immediately raises a few questions, especially when you look at the butcher-style artwork. But the source of the title is actually pretty funny. Frequencerz just had a performance in Mallorca and enjoyed a lot of tasty alcoholic beverages when they were discussing the album on the way back. When they discussed whether they’re Raw or Euphoric they quickly agreed that they are somewhere in the middle. Pepijn was still a bit hungover and suddenly said “We’re medium rare!” so that’s where the title comes from.
Which tracks will appear on the album?
One of the tracks that will appear on the album is “Wolfpack”. The artwork of the preview quickly cleared that up, because it’s the same as the album artwork. They also played three new tracks during their performance at Qlimax last year. Those tracks will also be featured on the album. That means the following four tracks have already been revealed:
1. Frequencerz & Tartaros ft. MC Jeff – Wolfpack
2. Frequencerz ft. MC Jeff – Shotgun
3. Frequencerz & Hard Driver – Snap Ya Neck
4. Frequencerz – Open Your Mind
Unfortunately there is no full tracklist or release date yet. However, we do know that the album will most likely be released on the label Roughstate. Keep an eye on our website for more information.
