DJ Mag has unveiled the annual election that puts the spotlight on the hundred most popular DJs of the moment. This year, no fewer than 1.3 million votes were analyzed, from 237 different countries – but only two hard dance artists have managed to regain a spot on the popular list.

As in previous years, many Dutch DJs can be found in the DJ Mag Top 100. The top 10 includes names such as Martin Garrix (3), Armin van Buuren (5) and Afrojack (7). However, for the best hard dance artist, we have to scroll down a bit. At number 71 we encounter Angerfist, who has won the award for ‘Highest Hard Dance DJ’. The hardcore legend thanks his fans for this award on Instagram, where he is congratulated by numerous artists from the scene.

Hard Dance in the DJ Mag Top 100

71. Angerfist
79. Brennan Heart

In addition to Angerfist, there is only one hard dance DJ in the Top 100: Brennan Heart is slightly lower than Angerfist, at position 79. There are few other representatives of hardstyle and hardcore on the list. “Miss K8 just missed out on a place this year,” we read on the official DJ Mag Top 100 website. In addition, the organization makes a positive note for hard dance: “With high-ranking DJs such as Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, Timmy Trumpet and Hardwell, who are all currently drawing influences from harder styles, all may not be lost.” .”

Not all DJs participate in the DJ Mag Top 100. After the elections in 2019, where Headhunterz finished in place 29, the hardstyle DJ no longer wanted to participate in the competition. “For me personally, I feel the need to lift this burden from my shoulders. To hold this position as the Highest Hard DJ on the list just doesn’t feel right anymore. I want to be able to focus more on myself and not have the feeling that I am in a competition,” he said at the time.
